Probe into video showing PVR woman slapping two men

SEREMBAN,.  Police are appealing for witnesses to help in their probe into a viral video clip showing a woman member of the police volunteer reserve (PVR) repeatedly slapping two men.

Nilai deputy OCPD DSP Azrul Hisham Mohd Shafie said police have also recorded a statement from the 37-year-old woman.

“We need witnesses who were at the restaurant where the incident took place to come forward.

“This is vital for us to wrap up the probe,” he said.

A 97-second clip showing a woman slapping the two men, believed to be foreigners, has been widely shared on social media since Tuesday.

The woman, who was not in PVR uniform, can be heard in the video telling the men in Punjabi that she had warned them not to create trouble. One of the men was also seen with one hand in cuffs.

Netizens have, however, asked the police to probe the incident and act against the woman for her alleged high-handedness, among other things.

Asked if it was an offence for PVR personnel to use handcuffs while not in uniform, DSP Azrul said the police should be allowed to complete the probe before he could comment further.

He said those with information can visit the nearest police station or call Nilai Crime Investigation Department chief ASP Rashid Kassim at 012-5183594.

Seremban OCPD ACP Thiew Hock Poh confirmed that the woman is a PVR officer based here.

It is learnt that the woman has also lodged a report over the video.

In the report, she claimed that she slapped one of the men for uttering profanities.

Thiew said his officers would also probe the matter although the alleged incident happened in Nilai.
