KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) — There is no change in the haze situation the country as at 9 am today, although the API readings have dropped in some of the 34 areas with unhealthy air quality.
According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) portal, the API reading in Banting, Selangor, which was 207 (very unhealthy) at 11 pm yesterday, has gone down to 177 (unhealthy).
Besides Banting, Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh, recorded API reading of 189, followed by Batu Muda (183) Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (183), Balok Baru, Kuantan (180), Nilai (179), Kemaman (176) and Seremban (171).
Other areas with unhealthy air quality are Putrajaya, with API of 169, Port Klang (168), Bukit Rambai (165), Seri Manjung (165), Jerantut (162), Port Dickson (160), Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (157), Shah Alam (155), Bandaraya Melaka (153), Cheras (153) and Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (153).
Also with unhealthy air quality are Petaling Jaya (151), Sri Aman (151), Kampung Air Putih, Taiping (145), Sarikei (136), Perai (131), Muar (130), Universiti Sains Malaysia (127), Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani (123), Sibu (117), Samarahan (115), Paka (115), Kuala Selangor (113), Kuching (109), Pasir Gudang (104) and Larkin Lama (102).
Air quality with API readings of 0-50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).

With the air quality worsening, approaching API reading of 200, the Education Ministry, late yesterday, issued a directive for all schools in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka to be closed today.
