KOTA KINABALU, Nov 9 (Bernama) — One of the issues to be debated at Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)’ annual congress next week would be the power sharing concept practised by Barisan Nasional.
Its president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said the issue had always been a talking point for PBS.
“It has remained a regular topic, as the BN component parties do have their respective viewpoints and mechanisms. Sometimes, proposals are made but remain unexecuted,” he said after a luncheon with media practitioners here Sunday.
The Sabah deputy chief minister said the power sharing issue would be discussed indepth, and the outcome submitted to the state as well federal top leadership.
Meanwhile, he said the issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah, for which a Royal Commission of Inquiry was set up to investigate, would also be deliberated during the congress.
On Sabah’s development, Pairin who is also state Infrastructure Development minister, said the issue would definitely be raised during the congress.
“It is crucial for BN to be seen not only as an instrument of progress for Sabah, but also as a guardian by the local people who, as part of Malaysia’s plural society, want their rights safeguarded,” he said.
Pairin also noted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s earnestness in leading the government towards a positive transformation for the country and people.
