BURSA MALAYSIA:KL Shares Lower In Early Trade

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were lower in early trading today hit by the weak overnight performance on Wall Street.

At 9.25am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 9.12 points easier at 1,594.24.

Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers by 273 to 103 while 152 counters were unchanged, 1,295 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 268.48 million shares worth RM146.93 million.

The FBM Emas Index fell by 55.48 points to 10,949.31, FBMT100 Index declined 56.71 points to 10,672.19 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index eased 34.72 points to 11,463.73.

The FBM 70 fell 46.44 points to 11,735.19 and the FBM Ace eased 22.99 points to 5,371.34.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index added 23.94 points to 3,074.12 and the Plantation Index climbed 7.02 points to 6,840.90.

The Finance Index, however, fell 136.21 points to 14,041.50.

Among heavyweights, Maybank slipped 14 sen to RM8.48, Public Bank fell 16 sen to RM17.92, TNB eased eight sen to RM11.04 and Axiata declined five sen to RM5.86.

Among the actively-traded stocks were AirAsia, AirAsia X, IFCA MSC, Frontken and KNM Group.
