Don’t be emotional with issues on Social Media – Joseph Kurup

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) — The people are advised not to be too emotionally with issues raised by irresponsible parties on social media.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said this was because Malaysia as a multi ethnic, religious and cultural country has always been the focus of the outside world either positively or negatively.

“Hence as a community we should always work together in solving any problems and not get emotional with issues raised on social media,” he said at the closing ceremony of the World Interfaith Harmony Week 2016 in Taylor’s University here today.

He said the prosperity and peace being achieved today were the result of mutual respect and love between the people of different races and religions.

Making the principles of the Rukun Negara as a guide to life, he also reminded the people to adhere to the National Constitution that had united the people.

Kurup said the government would always strive to find the best method or approach to maintain and preservie national unity.

On the World Interfaith Harmony Week, he urged the people to maintain mutual understanding among each other.

He said to constantly maintain mutual understanding, the people were urged to learn each other’s culture, religion and customs in line with the 1Malaysia concept mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
