KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad described the opposition’s act of creating a ruckus outside the Dewan Rakyat house after the announcement of the new Dewan Rakyat speaker as a “learning” process.
“They just realised it…they are still learning and they will learn.
“They will be shouting, making rounds of terrrible noises.
“Before they complained about others, now they are behaving the same way, what they thought was bad,” he told members of the media in a short comment, after the swearing-in ceremony of members of parliament at the 14th Parliament sitting here today.
Earlier today, majority of the members of parliament from the opposition party walked out of Dewan Rakyat after former judge Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof was nominated as the new speaker of the parliament.
Rembau member of parliament Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar and Kimanis member of parliament Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, both from BN, remained seated at their places in the house despite the chaos.
