Government Needs Support Of Private Sector & NGO To Help Urban Poor
KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 (Bernama) – The government needs the support of the private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help the urban poor.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the government was concerned with problems such as housing, jobs and high cost of living.

“Introduction of the transformation policy has alleviated these problems,” he said when launching the Kepong Foundation Dialysis Centre, here Sunday night.

Muhyiddin said the government’s efforts to improve the economy, generate income and provide access to education require the support of various parties.

The Kepong Foundation project must not fail as it was founded by UMNO leaders who always champion the cause of the weak and poor.

“UMNO is not only political, but also defend those in need in line with the government’s people first concept,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kepong Foundation chairman Datuk Rizuan Abd Hamid said they have raised RM4 million for the hemodialysis centre and the foundation’s building.
