PETALING JAYA,. A war of words is bubbling on Twitter over Barisan Nasional Rantau incumbent winning uncontested as the Pakatan Harapan candidate failed to submit his nomination papers.
Former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan returned unopposed as his sole challenger PKR candidate Dr Streram Sinnasamy was denied entry into Dewan Sri Rembau.
Dr Streram was not allowed entry as he did not have a candidate pass issued by the Election Commission.
His proposer and seconder were also not allowed entry as both did not have EC passes.
“If the former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar wins uncontested because the police barred Pakatan’s candidate from submitting his nomination form, Khairy Jamaluddin needs to answer this issue,” PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli tweeted in response to the issue.
He said Khairy is answerable as the Rantau state seat is under the Rembau parliamentary constituency that Khairy is contesting in.
Khairy promptly hit back at Rafizi, saying that Pakatan must accept the responsibilities over its own candidate’s faults.
“Ask your PKR candidate why he did not apply for his EC pass. I don’t think the Menteri Besar or I have to answer for your own candidate’s mistakes,” Khairy wrote on Twitter.
