KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 (Bernama) — Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah Hamidun, Thursday night hosted a state banquet in honour of visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife, Iriana, at the Istana Negara, here.
The Indonesian leader, who is better known as Jokowi, arrived Thursday afternoon for a three-day official working visit to this country.
Also present at the banquet were prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor as well as deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.
Jokowi’s first visit was at the invitation of the King.
Jokowi, who was elected as Indonesian president on Oct 20 last year, is scheduled to have a meeting with the prime minister at Bangunan Perdana Putra, Putrajaya, Friday.
Najib and his wife would also host an official luncheon for Jokowi, his wife and delegation at the official residence of the prime minister at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya.
The Indonesian President is scheduled to visit the Proton plant to explore opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the automotive field. .
Jokowi’s visit is perceived to give an opportunity for both leaders to boost bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia.
