KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) — There was little change to the haze situation in the country at 11pm Tuesday with 12 areas still recording air quality at the unhealthy level under the Air Pollutants Index (API).
According to the Department of Environment (DOE), the latest area to have an API reading at the unhealthy level was Banting, at 106.
The other areas with air quality in the same category were Balok Baru, Pahang (143), Bukit Rambai, Melaka (138); Bandaraya Melaka (136); Pasir Gudang, Johor (130); Larkin Lama, Johor (128).
Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan (126); Muar, Johor (125); Kemaman, Terengganu (123); Kota Tinggi, Johor (115); Indera Mahkota, Pahang (113) and Paka, Terengganu (110).
Thirty areas had moderate air quality with the highest API readings at Putrajaya and Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (99); Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (98); Jerantut, Pahang (90); Port Klang, Selangor and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (89); Shah Alam, Selangor (88); Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Samarahan, Sarawak (84).
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 (medium), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
