Mahfuz Ordered Out For Insulting Minister, Disobeying Deputy Speaker
KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — The winding up session on the debate on the speech of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) today was chaotic, and Pokok Sena Member of Parliament Datuk Mahfuz Omar was ordered to leave Dewan Rakyat. This was because of his action in not heeding the order of Deputy Speaker Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said and insulting Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom when the minister was winding up the debate on the motion.

“Don’t use the action as an issue outside the dewan after this. It was done based on Standing Order 42. Firstly, not heeding my advice to sit and keep quiet, I tolerated it a long time..besides uttering the word ‘menteri bacul’ (cowardly minister). I heard the word uttered against the minister (Jamil Khir).

“He (Mahfuz) was stubborn in not respecting the (Deputy) Speaker and did not heed my instruction when I told him to sit and be quiet, and not because the minister had failed to answer,” said Ismail.

The chaos was triggered when Mahfuz brought up a Private Member’s Bill on the implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

Commenting further, Jamil Khir said the government must scrutinise the bill before making any decision on it.

“In the Dewan (Rakyat) we must wait and see the bill in order for us to support or not..table first the bill,” he said.

The Dewan will sit again on Monday.
