IPOH: A fire at a box processing factory in Ringlet, Cameron Highlands killed one worker yesterday.
The charred remains of Md Hanip Kazi, 36, from Bangladesh, were found at about 8am under a pile of zinc and iron in the workers’ quarters at the factory.
Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Station chief Muhammad Haziq Hazmi said the station received a call on the incident at about 4.05am and sent 19 firemen to the location.
“The factory (and quarters) were completely razed and losses from the fire are estimated at RM1.5 million,” he added.
Muhammad Haziq said the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further investigation.
