Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Dato’ Jailani Johari hoped in the next 20 years the media practitioners in this country will be able to disseminate a constructive news production that will assist in the country’s development.
In addressing at an Q&A session during a National Media Forum luncheon talk at UITM Shah Alam, Johari also emphasised that the media practitioners should have a stronger command and proficiency of English language, beside our national language Bahasa Malaysia.
He pointed out that a good command of English language will help the media practitioners to report a stronger news that can be reached out globally.
Apart from that Jailani also urged the media practitioners to report verified news that will assist the younger generation to have a positive conditioned mind and help in nation’s building.
He also reminded that the pen is mightier than a sword, which could enable as a catalyst to a country’s development, during his speech.
“Providing verified and genuine news will counter all the fake news that are being circulated by unscrupulous parties for their own interest.” Jailani Johari added.
The one day forum is organised jointly organised by Malaysian Press Institute and Institute of Journalism Studies with a theme “Road Map and Future of Journalism in Malaysia”
