PETALING JAYA, Sept 29 (Bernama) — The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) wants the government to give some perks, like tax relief, to chambers of commers in Budget 2016 in October.
Its President, Datuk Wira Jalilah Baba, said the incentives were crucial for the chambers of commerce in Malaysia to encourage local companies to join a chamber of commerce.
“We have requested for some kind of recognition and assistance to the chambers of commerce because in Malaysia it is not compulsory for a company to be a member of any chamber unlike in Europe or US.
“Therefore, it’s the initiative of each chamber of commerce to invite companies to sign up as members,” she told a press conference at the MICCI Corporate Ethics Awards 2015 here today.
She said the MICCI hoped the government would support and recognise related activities such as business-matchings organised by a chamber of commerce when offering tax relief.?
“We are just asking for support, tax relief and recognition for our efforts,” she said.
Jalilah said MICCI would continue to promote Malaysia as business-friendly business destination to foreign investors to attract more investments.
