Najib Conveys Condolences Over Helicopter Crash In Pakistan

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims of the helicopter crash in the Naltar Valley area in Pakistan, early Friday morning.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims in the Pakistan helicopter tragedy. Al-Fatihah,” he tweeted.

It is reported that at least six people, including ambassadors of Norway and the Philippines, were killed and 11 others injured after a helicopter with 17 people onboard crash-landed in Pakistan’s northern Gilgit region.

The wife of Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Datin Habibah Mahmud, is among those who died in the crash.

Foreign Ministry comfirmed that Habibah’s husband, Datuk Dr Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, was injured in the mishap and currently receiving treatment at Gilgit Hospital.

The helicopter was carrying foreign diplomats and their spouses in an official programme of the Pakistan government.
