Najib: Think Clearly What Is Real Fact
KUCHING, March 12 (Bernama) — The people must think with a clear mind on what are facts that are fully true, half truths, mere fiction, and what is merely a personal opinion, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He cited an example where a leader who had once led the country for 22 years had organised a program purportedly called the people’s declaration, whereas it was actually not a declaration that was agreed fully by Malaysians.
He said a majority of the people, including in Sarawak, did not agree with the declaration.
“Do not make a public declaration (with the intention) to pull wool over the people’s eyes, to turn a personal agenda into the people’s agenda,….(actually) it’s not about the people, it’s about personal agenda,” he said in his speech when launching the program ‘Minda di Tebingan Sungai Kuching’, here today.
About 5,000 visitors flocked to the River Front as early as 8am to be with the Prime Minister in enlivening the three-day program organised by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM).
Najib subsequently cited the government’s determination to make development in Sarawak a ‘must’ which, according to him, was the real public agenda.
He said the people must have a clear mind which differentiates what was a true agenda or fact, and what was a lie (auta).
He said the fact was that the government carried out all its pledges, whereas the opposition could only make all kinds of promises, but the pledges generally could not be fulfilled.
He said subsequently any negotiation on whatever matter, the fact was that it would be easy for the federal government to negotiate with the state government leadership that was in tandem or in the “same team’ with it.
