NGO Slams Guan Eng Over Slow Internet Speed

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 30 (Bernama) — DAP leaders should stop twisting words and attacking whatever the ruling government does for the people, says a non-governmental organisation.

In a statement Wednesday, Sabah-based Media Teens Consumer Group head, Zeno Abdullah Roben took DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to task for picking on Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak when the latter was alleged to have said Malaysians preferred slower internet speed.

He said many people were annoyed by the Penang chief minister’s harsh statement and the DAP’s incessant politicising of statement from ministers.

“We know the DAP is eager to bad-mouth the Barisan Nasional Government but in Sabah, they turn off the people over the party’s (DAP’s) arrogance,” he said.

In KUALA LUMPUR, Sabah Malaysia Social Media Association pro-tem president Dr Lee Kuok Tiung has criticised Lim for a “denial syndrome” as most customers in the country preferred to subscribe to the cheaper slower broadband speeds.

He said Salleh was merely stating facts that although higher broadband speeds were available, some 71 per cent of Malaysian Internet users chose Streamyx broadband packages based on their affordable price.

In a statement today, he asked why Lim disputed something which was a reality.
