KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) — The Pakatan Harapan pact will be using the ‘Mahathir Declaration’ as a platform to free Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is currently serving a prison term for sodomy.
The Agenda was not included in the original declaration that was announced on Friday.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the Agenda (free Anwar) will be the main agenda during the rally to protest the Goods and Services Tax (GST) scheduled on April 2.
“Pakatan Harapan today as decided that the ‘Free Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’ will be the main agenda during the rally that includes the reformation agenda,” she told reporters at the Parliament, here today.
Last Friday, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad headed a 50-member group that included former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, former MCA President Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and veteran DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang signed the declaration seeking the removal of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Dr Wan Azizah said Dr Mahathir needed the support of the opposition to remove Najib compared with the perception that the opposition was riding on the influence of the former Prime Minister.
“Dr Mahathir lacks support and he needs our help,” she said.
