PAC Meeting Postponed Until New Chairman Appointed

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) — The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meetings are postponed and will only resume when a new chairman is appointed.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said this is in accordance with the requirement of Standing Order 77 of the Dewan Rakyat rules.

“As Dewan Rakyat Speaker, I take note the appointments of Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and three members, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, as minister an deputy ministers in the new Cabinet,” he said in a statement Thursday.

He said the appointments rendered vacant the posts of PAC chairman and the three members in accordance with Standing Order 77(4) of the Dewan Rakyat rules.

“In order to chair a PAC meeting, a chairman must be appointed by the council first and it has to be done via a motion by a minister in a sitting of the Dewan Rakyat for a decision to be taken,” he said.
