KUALA NERUS: Pas has received the full support of the Terengganu state government to hold a “Green Gathering” in conjunction with its Fastaqim 2.0 programme beginning Friday at Tok Jembal beach.
The party’s Syura Council member Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi said among the agencies supporting the two-day event include Kuala Terengganu City Council and Kuala Nerus district office.
The event, he said, is expected to draw Pas members and supporters from all over the country.
He also reminded participants to observe decorum and avoid provocations by those who wanted to disrupt the event.
“Pas will ensure that Fastaqim 2.0 will run smoothly and peacefully although we are aware that the state government is also having two events on the same day near the venue, namely Jom Heboh and national parachute competition,” he said when met today.
Asked about the ‘Better Beer Festival’, Nasaruddin who is also Pas central committee member, reminded the Selangor government to avoid challenging the Muslims’ sensitivity on the matter.
“We (Pas) are against it. If the international community recognises that alcoholic beverages are bad, then the Selangor government should be firm by making a stand against such festival.” he added.
His comment came following a report by Utusan Malaysia that the Selangor government would not prevent the beer fest from being held in the state.
Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali however had denied giving approval for any beer festival to be held in the state.
