KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) –Datuk Seri Najib Razak has congratulated national paralympic athlete Abdul Latif Romly following his success in defending his gold medal and breaking the men’s long jump T20 (intellectual disability) record at the 2017 World Paralympic Championships in London on Sunday.
“Congratulations Latif Romly for breaking the long jump record at # London2017, winning gold! #TerbangLatifTerbang #Kebanggaanku #Negaraku, ” the prime minister wrote on his Twitter page tonight.
The Rio 2016 Paralympics gold medallist recorded a 7.37 metre jump, breaking his previous 7.35m record in Doha, Qatar in 2015.
Croatian athlete, Zoran Talic, who is also the 2016 Rio Paralympics silver medallist, took the silver medal with 7.32m while Dmytro Prudnikov of Ukraine had to settle for the bronze with 7.12m in the meet held at London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
