SEREMBAN,. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak launched the new Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Sendayan base here this morning.
The Prime Minister was last here in April 2017 to inspect construction works on the facility.
The historic event was also attended by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammudin Hussein; Defence Minister secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi; Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor; RMAF chief General Datuk Seri Affendi Buang; and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
As part of the ceremony, Najib signed a plaque at the base’s main gate, before joining a briefing session on the development of the Sendayan base project.
Later, the prime minister inspected a marching parade at the Air Education and Training Command (MPLU) field.
He also visited the Armed Forces Housing (RKAT) area, RMAF staff members and their families; and was given a tour of other developments at the base.
Located on 303 hectares of land and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities as well as living quarters for 693 RMAF officers, personnel and their families, the headquarters will serve as the academy and training centre for RMAF officers and personnel nationwide.
