KOTA BAHARU, July 23 (Bernama) — Repair of infrastructure damaged in the floods which hit Kelantan in December last year is expected to be ready in September, Kelantan Federal Development Department (JPP) director Datuk Makhtar Mustapha said.
He said the federal government had allocated more than RM380 million for the purpose and the fund had been channeled to the relevant government departments and agencies.
“Most of the repair work is completed, with the remaining to be ready by September,” he told Bernama here.
He said the Public Works Department was allocated RM70 million for repair of roads and hill slopes at 124 locations.
The damaged roads included Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing-Simpang Pulai, Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, Jalan Pasir Mas-Tanah Merah, Jalan Lama Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang and the East West Highway between Jeli and Grik.
Repair work on the roads and hill slopes is completed, he added.
Makhtar said the Health Department was allocated RM75 million which included for replacement of medicines (RM26 million), replacement of vehicles (RM16 million), repair of hospitals (RM10 million), replacement of furniture (RM8 million), medicines (RM5.7 million) and repair of 16 rural clinics (RM2 million).
The Education Department, he said was allocated RM53.4 million for repair of 241 primary and secondary schools, including replacement of furniture (RM11.7 million) and text books (RM9.7 million).
