RMN, MMEA To Assist Mercy Malaysia To Deliver Humanitarian Aid To Rohingyan Refugees

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has instructed the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) to assist MERCY Malaysia to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Rohingyan refugees either by sea or land.

“It is basic human compassion that we insure the hungry will be given food and water while the sick will be attended to with medical treatment and supplies,” he posted in his Facebook page tonight.

It was reported that 1,158 Bangladeshis and Rohingyan refugees from Myanmar, including women and children, landed illegally by boat in Langkawi, Kedah on May 10, with the figures reported to be the largest ever to date.
