Sarawak State Election May Be Held Early 2016 – Adenan

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) — The 11th Sarawak state election might be held early next year, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

He said a number of factors were taken into consideration on this, including the date of tabling of the federal and state budgets and the monsoon season that could happen at the end of this year.

“The current term of the State Legislative Assembly ends on June 20, 2016 and then we have 60 days to the state election,” he said this on a TV3 interview programme last night.

The last Sarawak state election was held in 2011 which saw the Barisan Nasional retaining two-thirds majority in the state assembly.
