JEDDAH,. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has congratulated Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on his appointment as Malaysia’s Prime Minister, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques relayed his felicitation through a telephone call from the Salam Palace in Jeddah.
In his congratulatory message, the king commended the bilateral relations enjoyed by Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, and expressed hope that it would be further expanded in various fields.
According to the SPA report, Dr Mahathir had expressed his appreciation, as well as his intention of continuing to strengthen the bilateral ties of the two countries for their common wellbeing.
Dr Mahathir, 92, created history when he became prime minister of Malaysia for the second time after having served from 1981 to 2003; and also as the world’s oldest elected leader.
