SHAH ALAM, June 30 (Bernama) — The discussions between Selangor DAP leaders with Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today on the crisis between the party and PAS in the Selangor State Government, failed to make any headway.
Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua Kiam Wee said following the half-hour meeting with the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president, another meeting would be held after Aidilfitri.
Nevertheless, he told reporters at the State Secretariat Building here that the DAP had a clearer picture on the status of elected representatives from DAP, PAS and PKR in the Selangor State Government administration, following the meeting.
Asked whether the DAP leaders supported the administration of Mohamed Azmin, Pua said DAP had no problems cooperating with the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman.
“The issue is not Azmin’s position as Menteri Besar. We did discuss the position of PAS which wants to remain with Pakatan Rakyat in Selangor but no decision was achieved,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Azmin denied that the administration of the Selangor State Government was overwhelmed by a crisis as trumpeted about but on the other hand gave his assurance he would continue developing the state.
He said the meeting with DAP was a regular one to discuss several matters, and described as having taken place in harmony, despite not achieving any decision.
On June 16, DAP declared that Pakatan Rakyat comprising the party, PKR and PAS no longer existed after PAS cut ties with the DAP at its general assembly recently, and was seen as killing the pact.
But, PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on June 21 stated that the cooperation and spirit in developing working relations between the three parties still continued.
PAS, on its part, via the Syura Council, is expected to finalise the proposal to cut ties with DAP after Aidilfitri.
