
TAIPING: Three people were killed and another was injured when the car they were in crashed into the back of a lorry at KM225 of the North-South Expressway.
Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Taib said two people died on the spot while another died at the Taiping Hospital, following the 8.50am incident Saturday (July 14).
ACP Mohamad Taib said the driver Lobpithai Lee Sern Koung, 25, and front seat passenger Tan Hock Lai, 24, both from Penang, died on the spot.
“There were two other passengers, also from Penang. Ong Cheng Lian, 23, died at the Taiping Hospital while Chan Jian Zhong, 23, suffered light injuries.
“There are also no CCTV cameras in the vicinity.
“The incident will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death,” he said.
