KUALA LUMPUR, March 25: Former Malaysian premier Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has been appointed as Petronas adviser effective April 1, BERNAMA reported.
The Cabinet has endorsed the appointment of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as adviser of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), effective April 1.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Abdullah succeeded Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, whose service as Petronas adviser was terminated by the Cabinet on March 11.
Dr Mahathir was appointed to the Petronas position after he stepped down as Prime Minister in 2003.
In December 2013, he announced that he had resigned due to advice from his doctors that he needed to slow down.
Then Prime Minister Najib urged Dr Mahathir to rethink his decision and Dr Mahathir agreed to stay on.
