Uber expensive taxi ride: Fleet now includes Lamborghini, Maserati

SINGAPORE: A half-hour taxi ride could cost you S$400, more if you’re stuck in traffic. But, you’ll at least be stuck in style.

Uber has added two supercars to their fleet: A Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and a Maserati GranTurismo Coupe.

The Lamborghini will set you back S$200 before it even drives off from your pick-up location, and S$7 per minute until you get to your destination. The base fare for a ride in the Maserati is slightly less at S$165 and S$7 per minute for the ride.

As part of its supercar service launch, Uber is offering free rides in the cars for free on Mar 21 and 22. The catch though, is that these free rides, which are offered courtesy of Uber’s partner Dream Drive, will be limited to 15 minute slots and available only between 10am and 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The supercars will be available from March 21 until May 20, between 10am and 9pm. Bookings can be made via the Uber app (for iPhone and Android). Hitching the dream ride “may take a couple of tries”, Uber said on its blog, warning that demand for cars may be high and availability may be limited.
