Kedah UMNO Liason Committee deputy chairman Datuk Mahdzir Khalid said young voters were currently seen as more aggressive in social media and hence the use of the medium was very important at the moment.
“Even my Facebook friends comprised 30 per cent of young people. So actually we should use social media to provide information to them,” he told reporters after visiting the Sekolah Menengah Agama As-Siddiqiah, which was razed by fire on Sunday.
Mahdzir, who is also Education Minister, said he was confident of the strength of the party’s machinery at the UMNO and BN branch and divisional levels in facing the next general election.
“At present we have 10 BN parliamentary and 21 state seats and I am confident we can defend all these seats with the performace of our elected representatives,” he said.
