Check out the winning projects below that had their initiatives best evaluated.

ESG

PepsiCo , one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, has installed organic photovoltaic (OPV) solar panels on 368 trucks in its fleet. The system, known as ORENgE®, has helped reduce CO2 emissions by 112 tons per year. Another benefit is ensuring operational improvements in its fleet, with increased productivity, given that electrical problems and low loads were causing trucks to be idle for hours.

Operational Improvement

CEVA Logistics implemented a drone system to optimize the inventory process in its warehouses, resulting in a 517% increase in productivity. These devices fly quickly, efficiently and safely over the warehouse to count products. The inventory checking time was drastically reduced, ensuring greater counting accuracy and safety for employees, by eliminating the need to climb on platforms and forklifts to access higher spaces. In addition, the solution reduced operational costs.

Technology

To optimize internal logistics, operational efficiency and the distribution of automotive components, ZF is using two autonomous vehicles (or AGVs – Automated Guided Vehicles) at its Limeira unit, located in the interior of São Paulo. The AGVs have made the process of distributing components between the warehouse and the production lines much faster. What used to take 1h30 now takes just 15 minutes. Equipped with sensors, ZF’s AGVs are capable of operating safely in industrial environments, even with large circulation of people and machines, such as forklifts.

Innovation

GS Tecnologia and Additiva , a distributor of specialty chemicals, have developed the virtual assistant LIA, an artificial intelligence (AI) that improves logistics processes and integrates systems such as ERP and TMS. By automating processes, analyzing large volumes of data and providing accurate insights, LIA enables companies to make more assertive, informed and faster decisions. The solution interacts via WhatsApp, simplifying communication. Since its implementation, LIA has automated tasks, reduced operational costs and improved inventory management, resulting in greater efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Startup

Logtech naPorta offers a first and last mile logistics solution for restricted and hard-to-reach regions such as favelas, outskirts, riverside and rural areas. The logistics startup has mini hubs/agencies in the vicinity of communities that receive goods sent by cross-docking operations. These are processed and routed, and then local delivery people deliver the order to the consumer’s door. In almost 3 years, naPorta has made 600 thousand deliveries. naPorta employs delivery people, generally young people from the communities themselves, who end up earning an alternative income.
