Be Innovative, Resilient, City University Chancellor reminds Graduates

KUALA LUMPUR – The Graduates of City University Malaysia are reminded to be ‘innovative, resilient, and adaptable’ to keep up with the change taking place in the world, as it is crucial to stay competitive when they enter the workforce, said the Chancellor Tun Mohamed Raus bin Sharif.

Tun Mohamed Raus bin Sharif, in his opening speech, hoped the graduates would be the ambassadors of the university, with the ability to inspire change and a point of reference to future graduates.

“Our students are empowered with the necessary skills to become a globally minded citizen and the ability to inspire change. Remember that your academic achievements are not just a testament to your hard work, but also to the support and guidance of your faculty and staff.

“Take a moment to thank those who have helped you along the way,” he said.  He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the faculty, staff, and administration of City University Malaysia.

The 22nd Convocation of City University Malaysia is held at World Trade Center witnessed proud moments when more than 2,300 graduates successfully obtained their scroll after years of hard work, and perseverance, thanks to a dedicated team of staff, administration of City University of Malaysia.

Among the faculties involved are the Faculty of Business, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies, Faculty of Creative Industries, and the City Graduate School.

Pro-Chancellors, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Sham Sani and Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha R. Abdullah; Vice–Chancellor, Chairman of City University Malaysia, Datuk Mohamed Zaini Amran and the Founder of City University Malaysia, Datin Rohaidah Shaari are among the dignitaries attended the convocation.

Recently, City University Malaysia was rated by QS as an ‘Excellent’ 5-star university.

The University has a holistic view of higher education, with the emphasis placed not only on academic attainment but also on artistic expression and social integration.  In this regard, the University has 8 faculties, which offer a full spectrum of academic programs from foundation through to doctorate programs.

In ending his speech, Tun Mohamed Raus bin Sharif added, “As you move forward, always remember that the pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong journey.  “Embrace new experiences, seek out growth opportunities, and never stop learning.

“Your journey has just started, and I urge you to make the most of the opportunities that come your way. “The future is yours to shape, and no doubt, you will make us proud. I encourage you to take with you the values that City University Malaysia has instilled in you.

“Embrace diversity, seek knowledge, and use your education to make a positive impact in the world.”

Meanwhile, Sandra Lim, a graduate of Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) was one of the recipients of colours awards class of 2022 of City University Malaysia.  Sandra Lim, Vice Miss Global received notable achievements in the world of beauty pageants making her graduation today a moment of pride and inspiration.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, she shared her proud moment by adding, “We never made it here alone. Our teamwork, perseverance, and guidance from the dedicated academic team have made us attain our education dream.

“The academic members, administration, our family members believed in us and help us to get us through this memorable and sweet success which will be the future of our life.”
