BNM issued a commemorative coin in conjunction with the anniversary of the Money Factory
KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has issued commemorative coins in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Money Mill.
BNM Governor, Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus said Kilang Wang has produced beautiful coins with designs that Malaysians love for the past five decades.
“Kilang Wang celebrates our country’s cultural heritage while showcasing the craftsmanship and technology of the factory,” she said in a statement today.
Established on 10 July 1971, Kilang Wang is the official issuer of Malaysian coins. The commemorative coins will be issued in two denominations, Copper Commemorative Coins (proof) and Nordic Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) Gold Coins.
The Copper Commemorative Coin (proof) has a face value of RM5 and is available in three designs namely Wau, Gasing and Congkak, weighing 36.6 grams, 21.7 grams and 22.8 grams respectively, of which, it will be sold at a price of RM220 a piece.
Meanwhile, the Nordic Brilliant Uncirculated Gold Commemorative Coin (BU) made of copper and a mixture of several other metals weighs 8.5 grams.
This coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at a price of RM13.20 a piece.
The commemorative coins are also available in a set with three designs, priced at RM605 per set, each comprising Wau, Gasing and a Congkak-shaped copper coin.
