Cahya Mata seeks Sarawak government approval for second clinker line

KUCHING (April 16): Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (Cahya Mata Sarawak), via its wholly owned subsidiary Cahya Mata Cement Sdn Bhd, is still awaiting regulatory approval from the Sarawak government to proceed with the construction of a second clinker production line in Mambong.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the group said that further announcements on the matter will be made in due course.

Previously, Cahya Mata group general counsel Izzam Ibrahim said that the group is preparing to strengthen its position as the largest clinker producer in Borneo with this Clinker Line 2 project.

“We have lined up all the necessary manpower and procurement processes to kick-start the project,” he said during a press conference during the company’s Aidilfitri Open House 2025 in Kuching last weekend.

Set to be completed in March 2027, the Clinker Line 2 project is said to add 6,000 tonnes of daily production capacity.

This will double the company’s annual clinker output from 900,000 tonnes to 1.92 million.
