Canadian Solar and Flow Power to Launch Australia’s First Anti-Hail Solar Panel Installation in South Australia
KITCHENER, ON, April 5, 2025 – Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Flow Power, one of Australia’s fastest-growing energy retailers, to deliver the first Australian solar project featuring Canadian Solar’s innovative anti-hail module technology. The project will be installed at a new solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) site in Coonawarra, South Australia, and is set for delivery in 2025.
This marks the debut deployment of Canadian Solar’s anti-hail panels in Australia, introducing a new standard of durability and weather resilience for renewable energy infrastructure in regions prone to extreme conditions.
🔧 Advanced Protection Against Harsh Weather
The anti-hail technology—developed through rigorous testing—is designed to safeguard solar panels from damage during severe weather events such as hailstorms. This innovation underscores Canadian Solar’s dedication to delivering high-performance, reliable solutions tailored to demanding climates across the globe.
“We’re excited to be using Canadian Solar’s TOPCon anti-hail panels in our upcoming energy projects,” said Tom Harrison, General Manager of Energy Projects at Flow Power. “At Flow Power, we prioritize smarter, more resilient energy solutions, and the Coonawarra Energy Project reflects that mission. By integrating this technology, we’re improving asset durability and boosting long-term reliability for our customers.”
🌿 A New Era for Renewable Energy in Australia
The Coonawarra project, located in one of South Australia’s iconic wine regions, will pair a solar farm with a DC-coupled BESS, enhancing energy storage capabilities while improving operational resilience. This installation is the first of many sites where Canadian Solar and Flow Power plan to roll out this advanced module technology.
“We are proud to partner with Flow Power on this important project,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar. “Deploying our anti-hail panels in Australia demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovation, performance, and providing tailored solutions that meet the needs of challenging environments.”
🔜 Project Timeline
