DONGGUAN, China, Jan. 19, 2025 / — The Canton Fair successfully organized a sourcing trip to Dongguan’s Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Base (Dalang, Songshan Lake) from December 19 to 20, 2024, aiming to enhance the high-quality development of foreign trade and support local economic progress. The event saw 24 leading multinational purchasing companies engage with over 70 manufacturing firms in Dongguan, resulting in intended purchase orders totaling USD 62 million.

The sourcing trip, jointly hosted with the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and the Bureau of Commerce of Dongguan City, attracted key companies from the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, India, and the United Arab Emirates.

Dongguan, a globally recognized manufacturing hub, plays a crucial role in international trade thanks to its robust industrial infrastructure, industry chains, and highly efficient logistics network. Dalang, known as the “Wool Capital of the World,” and Songshan Lake, a high-tech zone renowned for its digital economy and electronics industries, provided a fitting backdrop for the event.

The sourcing trip featured factory visits, on-site promotional activities, negotiation sessions, and signing ceremonies to introduce local products and services to international markets. The event also included an exhibition showcasing household appliances, clothing, bags, and suitcases, with over 300 product samples from local suppliers.

In 2024, the Canton Fair hosted more than 700 “Trade Bridge” events, providing a valuable platform for face-to-face communication. These interactions allow companies to highlight their strengths, gain insights into market demands, and adjust their product development and market strategies.

Zhang Sihong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Canton Fair and Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, stated, “The Canton Fair serves as a vital platform for China’s global trade opening and plays a key role in promoting Sino-foreign economic and trade exchanges. In 2025, we will continue to organize foreign trade events tailored to demand, focusing on key industries, and further solidifying our role as a bridge for international trade.”

The 137th Canton Fair will take place from April 15 to May 5, 2025, in Guangzhou. To explore more business opportunities, the Canton Fair App is now available for download at Canton Fair App.
