Covid-19 pass becomes mandatory for certain services in Lithuania

VILNIUS, Sept 14 (NNN-Xinhua) — The national COVID-19 certificates became mandatory for people to access certain services in Lithuania on Monday. The Opportunity Pass can be issued to people who have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 180 days, have tested negative for coronavirus, or have been fully vaccinated.

The EU’s Digital COVID Certificate is also valid.

People without such certificates will be banned from visiting shops selling non-essential goods, major shopping centers and marketplaces exceeding an area of 1,500 square meters. They would be denied access to beauty services, gyms or events attended by more than 500 people.

However, people without the national certificates are still allowed to enter shops and marketplaces selling food, veterinary products, animal feeds, pharmacies, as well as shops selling vision corrections products, orthopedic products, plants, seeds and fertilizers.

On June 7, Lithuania started to issue the EU’s COVID pass. The government seeks to encourage higher rates of vaccination with more strict restrictions.
