Farasis Energy Leads Global Power Battery Innovation ile SPS (Super Pouch Solution)
GANZHOU, China , Dec. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — In the rapidly developing electric vehicle (EV) era, the demand for power batteries, a key component of EVs, has increased significantly. From January to October 2023, global installations of power batteries reached a staggering 225GWh, an increase of 116.1% compared to the previous year. In response to increasing demands for improved battery performance, including features such as fast charging, cost-effectiveness, long range, lightweight solutions and safety, leading battery manufacturers are constantly innovating and introducing new products.
As a pioneer of future electric vehicle requirements, Farasis Energy, the world leader in lithium-ion power batteries for new energy vehicles and energy storage systems, will be exhibiting Super Pouch Solution (SPS), eVTOL battery technology, electric It showcases its latest innovations, including high-performance battery system solutions and portable power stations for motorcycles.
SPS is designed to optimize charging efficiency, reduce costs, increase performance and adapt to a variety of electric vehicle models. This groundbreaking solution combines four key technologies: large-format pouch cells, integrated battery systems, state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and efficient direct recycling.
Highlights of SPS
High Energy Density: The SPS system delivers an impressive energy density exceeding 220Wh/kg. This extraordinary density provides a driving range of over 1,000 km. Its unique non-modular horizontal layout provides a more than 30% increase in energy density compared to conventional modular systems of the same volume.
Advanced Cell Technology: Utilizes lightweight aluminum plastic film encapsulation and an advanced stacking process. SPS cells outperform conventional prismatic and cylindrical cells by more than 10% in energy density for cells of the same size.
Fast Charge and Discharge Features: With Farasis Energy’s 800VTC (Turbo Charging) technology, SPS supports charge and discharge rates from 2C to 6C and above. This feature enables fast charging of various EV models, offering a range of up to 400 km in just 10 minutes, while maintaining high efficiency during energy release.
Innovative Lightweight Design: By integrating a high-efficiency liquid cooling plate as well as semi-solid large-format bladder cells directly into the system chassis, SPS achieves 75% volume utilization and reduces component count by half. This results in a system that is 20-30kg lighter than traditional battery-powered systems, providing a blend of lightweight efficiency and robust performance.
Enhanced Safety: SPS includes a safe chemical system, safe stacking design for pouch cells, proprietary phase change materials, superior thermal management, and an AI-driven BMS for comprehensive safety management. These innovations quadruple heat dissipation efficiency and extend the battery life cycle to over 3,000 cycles. Even in high nickel content cells, SPS prevents thermal dissipation in case of thermal runaway in individual cells.
Cost efficiency: The SPS design significantly reduces the need for auxiliary materials and eliminates modularization, leading to a 33% reduction in material costs. The production line is compatible with a variety of chemical systems, including liquid, semi-solid and solid-state batteries, meeting the diverse and long-term needs of automotive manufacturers. In addition, the system offers customizable sizing with the flexibility to adjust the thickness of horizontal bag cells from 85 mm to 145 mm. This adaptability enables SPS to suit all vehicle types in a single chassis by enabling battery system capacities ranging from 80kWh to 150kWh, helping automakers shorten the R&D cycle for new models, reduce purchasing expenses and ensure a stable supply.
Low-Carbon Intelligent Manufacturing: Adopting smart technology, digitalization, automation and sustainability, SPS achieves an outstanding electrode stacking speed of 0.125 seconds per electrode. More than 1,200 robots contribute to a 98.5% automation rate, ensuring products consistently comply with PGB quality standards.
Farasis Energy’s SPS sets a new benchmark in global power battery innovation. This solution has been preferred by the world’s leading automobile manufacturers since its launch. The power battery industry is witnessing a multitude of technical approaches and innovative technologies with the ultimate goal of finding the optimal balance of cost, safety and performance for various usage scenarios. As the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) market stabilizes and automakers focus on improving charging efficiency, innovative solutions like SPS herald a new era full of opportunities.
