Five enterprises clinch national titles in Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia 2024
KOTA KINABALU (Dec 1): Five enterprises were crowned as national winners of the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia 2024 programme held here yesterday.
The winning enterprises – Sabah’s Global Cerah Sdn Bhd; Sarawak’s Koperasi Opah Sri Aman Bhd and 4×4 Quest Sdn Bhd; and Peninsular Malaysia’s Reclimate Sdn Bhd and Synbiozymes Sdn Bhd – emerged victorious against 15 finalists in a pool of 180 entrepreneurs.
The finalists participated in an intensive week-long incubator workshop across three locations, followed by a three-month national accelerator programme, which culminated in a final pitching session where the participants were evaluated on their business models, team capabilities and business traction.
“Our Shell LiveWIRE programme is a catalyst for positive social change, fostering local business development, job creation and innovative solutions to social and economic challenges.
“Each year, this initiative empowers thousands of entrepreneurs worldwide to transform their bright ideas into sustainable businesses.
“I am truly delighted to see our local entrepreneurs seizing this opportunity to expand their ventures and uplift their communities by creating valuable employment opportunities,” said Shell Malaysia chairperson Siti Sulaiman.
Each national winner received a start-up fund of RM30,000 and access to the global LiveWIRE ecosystem, which connects them with entrepreneurs worldwide, as well as a chance to compete in the Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Awards.
On hand to present prizes to the winners was Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Additionally, Sarawak winners 4×4 Quest and Koperasi Opah Sri Aman received an extra RM20,000 each from Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), meant to encourage greater participation from the region.
The competition’s judging panel included Shell Malaysia general manager (Malaysia Projects) Norizah Othman, Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre chief executive officer Viviantie Sarjuni and Daily Express deputy general manager Dexter Yeh.
Also present was Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd general manager Wong Kim Mun.
