GE15: Dr Zulkifli’s three advice for political parties

SHAH ALAM: Senator Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri shared three main pieces of advice aimed at all political parties, especially for their respective leaders and machinery teams in the face of the 15th General Election (GE15) season.

He, who is also a former Mufti of the Federal Territory, said that all parties involved were first asked to renew their intentions when entering the upcoming GE campaign.

“The two main pillars of Malaysian politics are the people and religion. We do not want the people to become victims of the ‘Puteri Gunung Ledang promise’ by irresponsible political leaders.

“What’s more, we don’t want the issue of Islam as the religion of the Federation to be sidelined by any party that rules in the future. Moral and moral issues are the basis of building a stable, advanced and balanced nation.

“Therefore, there is no compromise for those who take religion lightly,” he said, who is also a former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) via his Facebook post on Monday.

Secondly, Zulkifli said, all parties involved are advised not to excessively hate and antagonize each other during the campaign.

“Teasing is common during the campaign but manners and morals must be maintained.

“There is no need to be overly hateful and hostile because the reality is that the campaign is just a battle of wits in organizing strategies to promote each party on the ground and on social media,” he said.

Thirdly, he said, the parties involved are also advised to avoid spreading defamation because it is considered as a vile form of political campaign and game.

He said, defamation can elevate a bad person and bring down a good person.

In the meantime, Zulkifli said, he was interested in the seriousness of some young people on the TikTok platform who are new voters in doing research through the internet to evaluate the candidates and parties they want to be elected in GE15.

“The fact is, there are still many new voters who are unclear about this. In addition to searching online, I recommend that all candidates who are competing attend the general meeting.

“Get as much information as possible through inquiries, conversations with more senior voters from various parties. Finally, ask for guidance from ALLAH SWT through istikhara prayer,” he said.

Zulkifli said, ideally, all parties want the best leader for themselves and the next generation, but the reality is that the decision made is like choosing between two weaknesses.

“Choose those who are lighter or have fewer weaknesses, as long as they succeed in proving that they are serious about strengthening the economy, making the people prosperous and preserving religion. Happy campaigning and happy voting,” he said.
