GE15: Idris Ahmad is contesting for the Bukit Gantang Parliamentary seat

BUKIT GANTANG: PAS will contest the Bukit Gantang Parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15), said its Vice President, Datuk Idris Ahmad.

He said, however, the candidate who will represent the party has not been decided and the decision will be made by the Central leadership.

“Look at the day of the incident, the party that will decide the matter.

“What is certain is that PAS will compete in Bukit Gantang, we don’t know who the candidate will be… because in PAS, we don’t fight, PAS is not like other parties,” he said.

He was found after presenting a donation amounting to RM29,500 to a resident, Abu Hassan Saad to improve his poor residence in Changkat Ibol, here, today.

Idris said, he will bring the party’s view, not his own, in the meeting scheduled for next Saturday.
“The Central Leader will issue a statement about the decision in the meeting later,” he said.

Previously, the media reported that the Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat is expected to be one of the seats up for grabs because Idris is said to want to run for the seat that he won in GE13.

In GE14, Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed who contested on the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket defeated Idris before becoming an Independent Member of Parliament and later joining Bersatu.

On September 16, Syed Abu Hussin hinted at the possibility of defending the parliamentary seat on the Independent ticket if he was not selected to represent the party in GE15.

However, on September 23, he expressed his willingness to give way if there was a better candidate to contest in the Parliament.

According to him, what is important is that the candidate must be able to serve and be accepted by the people.
