Greece Set to Captivate Global Audiences at WTM London 2024 Expo
Greece will take center stage at this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 exhibition, which will be held from November 5 to 7 at the ExCeL London convention center.
As the world’s most influential travel and tourism event, WTM London attracts the global travel community, showcasing innovative trends and insights.
This year, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is the premier partner of WTM London, highlighting the country’s dynamic cultural experiences and year-round tourism opportunities.
According to RX Global, the event’s organizer, the prestigious partnership will provide Greece with significant global exposure to WTM’s extensive international audience, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to maintaining its status as a leading leisure destination.
Speaking to the media about Greece’s role as WTM London’s Premium Partner, GNTO Director in the UK and Ireland Eleni Skarveli highlighted the positive path of Greek tourism, which has seen record numbers this year, and underscored the importance of sustainable tourism development.
“As WTM’s main partner for 2024, Greece has the opportunity to showcase its destinations through authentic experiences, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s premier tourism destinations,” Skarveli told the Athens News Agency (ANA) .
Over 3 million British visitors in 2024
Although the 2024 tourist season is still in progress, Skarveli reported a 4 percent increase in UK arrivals to Greece from January to August, reaching 3,136,900 British visitors. This surge reflects a significant boost in tourism revenue from the UK market, estimated at 608.9 million euros.
Looking ahead to 2025, Skarveli noted that the GNTO’s UK and Ireland office will continue its promotional efforts, focusing on highlighting Greece’s destinations during the spring and autumn shoulder seasons. This approach aims to strengthen low-season tourism and aligns with the British market’s growing interest in luxury travel, she said.
On November 5, during WTM London, Skarveli will participate in a session titled “Destination Diverse – Developing a Diverse, Inclusive, Accessible, and Intersectional Destination Strategy,” scheduled for 15:25 – 15:50 at the Purple Theatre in the ExCeL London convention center.
Greece @ WTM London 2024
This year, Greece will showcase its offerings at WTM London with a 900-square-meter stand titled “Visit Greece”. Co-exhibitors will include local governments, airlines, Greek airports, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, tourism startups, and other service providers, all presenting their diverse products and services.
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) will host over 80 exhibitors at stands N3-515 and N3-210, highlighting the country’s vibrant tourism landscape.
Highlighting Greek tourism startups
Additionally, the GNTO will feature the CapsuleT Travel & Hospitality Accelerator at stand N2-220 (booths 69-70), showcasing six Greek tourism startups that will present their innovative solutions during the event.
For the fourth consecutive year, the GNTO and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels are supporting CapsuleT, Greece’s tourism startup accelerator. This collaboration provides a platform for promoting the Greek travel tech ecosystem to a global audience.
The initiative aims to foster new partnerships, expand networks, and strengthen the clientele of Greek tourism businesses. By highlighting the technological services and products offered by Greek startups in the tourism sector, this cooperation seeks to enhance the visibility of innovation within the industry.
Participating startups at WTM London 2024 alongside CapsuleT include Deliverback, Mystery Pot, Narratologies, PrimeHost, Travelr, and Vivestia.
WTM London will continue until November 7, with opening hours from 9:30am to 6:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and from 9:30am to 5:00pm on Thursday.
