
Harbin Welcomes the World with Spectacular Winter Wonderland
BEIJING, Feb. 11, 2025 / — Harbin, the capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, has once again transformed into a breathtaking winter paradise, drawing visitors from around the globe. The 26th Harbin Ice and Snow World, one of the world’s largest winter festivals, opened its doors on December 21, welcoming crowds eager to witness the artistry of ice and snow on an unprecedented scale.
“The park’s design seamlessly incorporates elements of the 9th Asian Winter Games, adding a new level of grandeur to this year’s ice and snow spectacle,” said Luo Xin, deputy general manager of Harbin Ice and Snow World Park.
A Record-Breaking Celebration of Ice and Snow
This year’s festival is the largest in Harbin’s history, featuring more than 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow sculpted into intricate designs across nine thematic zones. Visitors can marvel at replicas of iconic landmarks from 42 countries and three regions of the Olympic Council of Asia, including China’s Temple of Heaven, Japan’s Osaka Castle, and India’s Taj Mahal.
At the heart of the festival stands “Love Among Asia,” a towering structure inspired by the official emblem of the OCA. Its radiant sun-shaped core symbolizes the unity and energy of Asian sports.
Thrills, Adventures, and Mesmerizing Lights
Beyond the stunning ice sculptures, visitors can immerse themselves in adrenaline-pumping attractions. One of the festival’s highlights is a 500-meter-long ice slide, an exhilarating ride that has left visitors breathless. “It felt like flying—absolutely thrilling!” said Zhang Jiajia, a tourist from Zhejiang province.
For those seeking a magical experience, the illuminated ice maze offers a whimsical journey through the 12 Chinese zodiac animals, while over 20 artistically crafted ice slides are scattered throughout the park, each boasting unique designs.
This year, the festival has also pushed the boundaries of lighting technology, creating breathtaking visual effects that enhance the icy spectacle. Visitors can also enjoy live performances, cultural shows, and ice-carving competitions, adding an artistic flair to the winter wonderland.
