Kelana Jaya LRT line to fully reopen tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: The Kelana Jaya LRT line will fully reopen tomorrow, days after service to 16 stations was stopped.

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said the 16 stations between the Kelana Jaya and KLCC stations will be reopened from 6am.

It said the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) had given the green light for service along the line to resume after extensive tests were carried out by experts from Rapid Rail and the original equipment manufacturer, Thales Group.

Apad, it said, had confirmed the stability of the automatic train control system and had certified it safe for operations.

Prasarana group CEO and president Azharuddin Mat Sah said they would continue to monitor the situation to ensure the trains could operate safely.

“We would like to stress that the decision (to halt services) was made in the interests of safety.

“We hope the full reopening of the line ahead of schedule will ease the problems faced by commuters.”

Meanwhile, Prasarana said it would compensate commuters by offering free rides for a week, from tomorrow till Nov 20.

It said My50 pass holders would be given an additional seven days of rides when they renew their pass.
