Ketengah to organise ‘Visit Kenyir Year 2021’
KUALA LUMPUR,. The Central Terengganu Development Authority (Ketengah) is set to organise the Visit Kenyir Year 2021 (TMK2021) programme from January to December next year.
Ketengah general manager Tengku Ahmad Nadzri Tengku Musa said the inaugural programme was a follow-up to the ‘Kenyir Festival’ initiative, where Ketengah sees the potential to strengthen the tourism industry at Tasik Kenyir to make it a ‘top of the mind’ tourist destination.
“At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic which has plagued the world since early this year and affected the economic sector, especially tourism, has become one of the main factors in organising this programme (TMK2021) to improve the wellbeing of the community affected by this pandemic, especially the tourism sector operators in Tasik Kenyir (speed boat operators, boathouses and eateries).
“The TMK2021 programme uses the slogan ‘Natural Kenyir’ to promote Tasik Kenyir as a prestigious eco-tourism destination,” he said in a statement here today.
The programme involves the cooperation of government and private agencies in Terengganu, and various events have been planned to be held every month next year, including the Get to Know Tasik Kenyir programme, Tasik Kenyir Media Expression Tour, and Kenyir Fun Ride.
The initiative is hoped to provide a boost to rural entrepreneurs, especially in the tourism sector, and promote Tasik Kenyir as a must-visit destination.
