PLANO, Texas , Aug. 24, 2024 / — The Lexus RX 500h Black Line Special Edition package returns for 2025, offering another variant for the best-selling vehicle. The package is offered exclusively on the RX 500h F SPORT Performance model and features black exterior appearance pieces, orange brake calipers and 21-inch five-spoke split-spoke wheels with a black finish.

In addition to offering the Black Line Special Edition package, the 2025 RX sees the introduction of the F SPORT Design trim, available only on the RX 350 and RX 350h. With the new trim, the RX is now offered in seven grades: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, F SPORT Performance and F SPORT Design.

The 2025 RX is expected to arrive in dealerships later this year. Pricing will be available later.

Black Line Special Edition Package

Limited to 500 units in North America for the 2025 model year, the Lexus RX Black Line Special Edition package is based on the RX 500h F SPORT Performance trim. On the outside, the package adds Incognito as the exterior color, black exterior styling cues, and 21-inch split-five-spoke wheels with a black finish and orange brake calipers, offered for the first time on an RX. Inside, the Black Line Special Edition’s sporty look is completed by a black interior accented with gray stitching throughout.

F SPORT design

For 2025, the RX also adds the F SPORT design, based on the Premium trim and available exclusively on the RX 350 and RX 350h. The F SPORT design shares exterior cues from the F SPORT ride, including the F SPORT front fascia, grille, rear valance and 21-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels with a gloss black metallic finish. Six exterior color options are available, including Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Caviar, Copper Crest and Grecian Water. The interior features Birch and Black interior options with Black Open Pore wood trim.

The difference of the GA-K platform

The 2025 RX rides on the GA-K platform, which has a low center of gravity thanks to its use of stronger metals (such as 1180 MPa steel in the side sills, 1470 MPa steel for the roof, and 2GPa steel for the B-pillars) and innovative adhesives and welds.

Reinforcement in the radiator support, center floor, rear suspension towers and tailgate opening contribute to overall rigidity. The 2025 RX measures 192.5 inches long, with a 112.2-inch wheelbase and a track width of 65 inches in the front and 66 inches in the rear. The rear section of the platform features a multi-link suspension design, attached to a high-torsion rear subframe that facilitates consistent suspension entry and exit during acceleration, deceleration and steering.

The GA-K platform provides ample legroom for rear-seat passengers. RX customers will also enjoy generous cargo space and a low tailgate lip to reduce loading height.

A Powertrain for Everyone

RX 350 (FWD/AWD)
The 275-hp turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine achieves 317 lb.-ft. of torque and high power thanks to several advanced technologies such as a central injection system (for more stable combustion), lightweight lipless spherical pistons (for high-speed combustion) and a continuously variable capacity oil pump (to modify the discharge volume according to operating conditions). A close-ratio Direct Shift-8AT eight-speed transmission offers a shift control program that provides smooth acceleration and deceleration. The electronically controlled full-time all-wheel drive system constantly varies front-to-rear driving force distribution from 75:25 to 50:50 (depending on the situation) for optimal contact and linear steering feel.

RX 350h (AWD) A hybrid powertrain mated to a 2.5-liter four-cylinder
Atkinson -cycle gasoline engine with 246 total system horsepower and 233 lb.-ft. of torque is combined with a high-output, low-resistance nickel-metal hydride battery pack, delivering a high level of power and fuel economy. The 216-cell battery pack is located under the rear seat, allowing for passenger comfort and providing storage capacity. The RX HEV can be equipped with E-Four, Lexus’ innovative all-wheel-drive system, which places a motor on the rear axle for near-instant application of driving force in low-grip or acceleration scenarios.

RX 450h+ (AWD)
Powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery paired with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine (shared with the NX), the 2025 RX 450h+’s hybrid system has a manufacturer-estimated combined rating of 83 miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe). The system delivers plush performance and seamless acceleration from a standstill with an estimated 6.2-second 0-60 mph time. The RX 450h+ has an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-estimated range of 35 miles in all-electric mode.

The RX450h+ comes equipped with a Level 1 vehicle charging cable for 120V outlets and all models are equipped with a J1772 (Type 1) plug for charging at home and at public stations. A high-performance, high-efficiency system designed to reduce energy loss when converting from AC to DC power results in faster charging times. Using the maximum 240V charging current and under ideal conditions, the Lexus RX 450h+ can be fully charged in approximately two and a half hours with the standard 6.6 kW on-board charger.

The RX 450h+ uses an electronically controlled full-time all-wheel drive system for a confident and sporty driving experience, led by the Lexus Driving Signature fundamentals. By optimising torque distribution between the front and rear axles depending on driving conditions, the driver can control the vehicle as they prefer across varied road conditions and driving styles.

RX 500h F SPORT Performance AWD
A next-level level of dynamism is achieved by the high-performance 271-hp 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder hybrid engine that is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, integrated Power Control Unit and electric motor. At the rear, an 80-kW electric axle consisting of an inverter and motor provides near-instant power to the rear wheels. Together with a high-performance, low-resistance nickel-metal hydride battery, the system produces a total of 366 hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. A DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system orchestrates a seamless, direct application of driving force between the front and rear axles within milliseconds, thereby enhancing handling, control and feel. Body motion is also minimized for greater ride comfort.

Suspension

Front MacPherson struts provide precise turn-in and confident, linear handling. Suspension arms and knuckles absorb high-frequency road vibrations and shocks. The compact design of the rear multi-link configuration allows for additional cabin space for passengers, cargo and, for hybrid powertrains, battery placement.

Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) (available on F SPORT Handling and F SPORT Performance)
The AVS system available on the RX provides a comfortable ride, stability and superior steering response. AVS uses linear solenoid-type actuators to vary damper force with near-instant adjustments based on driving operation and road conditions.

Braking
Dual-piston calipers biting into 13.39-inch front and rear rotors aid in smooth stopping. For F SPORT Handling and F SPORT Performance, compound braking is achieved via opposed six-piston aluminum calipers and 15.74-inch front rotors. The opposed calipers are 2.4 pounds lighter than those used on LS and LC models.

Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS)
The DRS system available on the F SPORT Performance can provide impressive maneuverability. During high-speed maneuvers, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels to provide clear and stable cornering feedback. At lower speeds, the rear wheels can seamlessly turn in the opposite direction of the front wheels, for fluid low-speed maneuverability. DRS allows for a maximum steering angle of 4 degrees, either in phase or counterphase with the front wheels depending on speed.

Bold and Attractive Design

Exterior Features
A seamless grille up front provides a strong, clean stance and marks the origin of the spindle body that expresses athleticism and finesse in a sophisticated, dynamic form. The RX’s streamlined proportions reflect the platform’s low center of gravity, while available 19- or 21-inch wheels add striking style. At the rear, a single taillight wraps around the body, further emphasizing the RX’s low, wide silhouette.

Improved aerodynamics translate into enhanced handling and control. The refined shape of the 2025 RX’s front fascia efficiently directs airflow around the body spindle, while cooling its brakes. Other aerodynamic elements include flush window and door moldings, a rear spoiler and dimpled underbody covers.

The F SPORT Performance features a standard panoramic glass roof, a standard 14-inch high-definition touchscreen, unique front and rear bumpers, and a piano black grille and accents. Its unique 21-inch wheels are shod with Michelin ® Pilot Sport ® tires made with a bespoke tread compound and pattern with a matte black finish. Additional black accents and body-color running boards distinguish the Performance model.

The 2025 RX is offered in 11 exterior color options depending on the trim: Ultra White 1 , Eminent White Pearl 1 , Cloudburst Gray 1 , Iridium 1 , Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Copper Crest, Nori Green Pearl , Nightfall Mica, Grecian Water and Incognito 1 .

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0
One of the pillars of the RX’s success is its safety and convenience features. The 2025 Lexus RX comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes:

Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection
The Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection is designed to help detect an approaching vehicle, pedestrian, bicyclist or motorcyclist and provide an audible/visual forward collision warning in certain circumstances. If the driver fails to react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking at speeds between approximately 7 and 110 mph. PCS utilizes a camera and millimeter-wave radar to enhance performance and reliability. Features for LSS+ 3.0 include:

Emergency Steering Assist for Hazard Avoidance – Designed to provide additional steering torque during a driver-initiated emergency maneuver, improving vehicle stability and helping to prevent lane departure. This steering support feature is designed to operate when the Pre-Collision System is ON, the turn signal is not on, the vehicle speed is between 25 and 50 mph, and the speed relative to the detected object is between 25 and 50 mph.

Left-Turning Vehicle Detection/Braking – Designed to provide a warning and automatic braking if the system determines a driver is turning left in front of an approaching vehicle under certain daytime conditions.
All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
An adaptive cruise control system designed for highway use that uses radar and camera technology to help keep the vehicle at a preset speed and distance from vehicles ahead, even in stop-and-go traffic. If the system detects the vehicle approaching closer than a preset distance, it automatically slows the vehicle, possibly to a complete stop. At highway speeds, when the road clears, the vehicle returns to the preset speed. For LSS+ 3.0, a new Curve Speed Management feature is added, which will help manage speed in curves when cruise control is engaged and can slow the vehicle if necessary.

Lane Following Assist (LTA)
When Full-Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is enabled and lane markings are detected, Lane Following Assist (LTA) uses the road lines and/or vehicles ahead to provide active driving assistance and help keep the vehicle centered in its lane.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) – When white or yellow lane markings, or certain roadside boundary lines are detected at speeds above 30 mph, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) is designed to provide an audible/visual lane departure warning if an unintentional lane departure is detected. If the driver does not take corrective action, the system is also designed to provide gentle corrective steering to help keep the driver in the lane.

Road Sign Assist (RSA) – Using an intelligent camera, Road Sign Assist (RSA) is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs, yield signs and certain warning signs and display a sign icon in the Multi-Information Display (MID).

Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) – When system operating conditions are met, using the vehicle’s camera and radar, Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) provides gentle braking when cornering or gentle braking and/or steering to assist with driving tasks such as controlling the distance between the vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist.
