LRT Kelana Jaya route is safe, stable

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) has informed that the critical system of the light rail transit (LRT) Kelana Jaya Line is safe and stable.

In a statement on Saturday, Rapid Rail is actively conducting tests on 38 trains and it is important to determine stability and predictability, before any decision to fully open the route.

“The Kelana Jaya Line LRT service will only be opened to the public after the tests carried out have not shown any disruption to the safety critical system, and passed the assessment by the Land Public Transport Agency,” he said.

Previously, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) announced that the LRT service between Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park stations will be suspended for seven days starting from 9 to 15 November following the service that was found to be unstable.

The temporary suspension is after taking into account passenger safety factors as well as the time taken to identify the cause of the service disruption.

The Kelana Jaya Line LRT service now only operates from Gombak station to Damai station and from Lembah Subang station to Putra Heights station.
