Malaysia and China Partner on Regional AI Hub Led by MYEG and Beitou IT Innovation

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11, 2025 – In a milestone initiative to strengthen China-ASEAN technological ties, MY E.G. Services Berhad (MYEG) and Beitou IT Innovation Technology Investment Group, a Guangxi government-backed firm, will jointly establish the Malaysia-China AI Innovation and Cooperation Centre, positioning it as the Flagship China-ASEAN AI Lab.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Governor Lan Tianli of Guangxi and Malaysian Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, underscoring the strategic importance of the initiative.

The lab will act as a regional AI hub, combining blockchain, robotics, and generative AI to create technologies tailored for ASEAN markets, all housed at Zetrix Tower, MYEG’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya. The project brings together top Chinese technology players including Huawei, DJI, Alibaba, and Deepseek, alongside regional collaborators like Heitech Padu.

The first rollout will include cross-border Digital ID recognition between Malaysia and China, enabling identity verification for Malaysians in Guangxi province and vice versa for Chinese visitors in Malaysia.

A major financial push accompanies the effort—RMB10 billion has been allocated by the Guangxi provincial government to accelerate AI-led initiatives under the China-ASEAN strategic cooperation.

“We aim to increase ASEAN’s productivity by connecting China’s AI innovations with the region’s needs,” said Lai Shuiping, Chairman of Beitou IT Innovation.

“This collaboration marks the beginning of a new chapter in regional tech transformation,” said TS Wong, MYEG’s Managing Director.

MYEG continues to build on exclusive partnerships with Chinese government agencies, reinforcing Zetrix, its layer-1 blockchain platform, as a vital foundation for future Web3 and AI-driven cross-border solutions.
