MEC 2021/22 attracted over 1.6 million views

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian E-Sports Championship (MEC) 2021/2022 received encouraging response when the number of views and participation surpassed the figures of the last edition.
According to Esports Integrated (ESI) CEO Ahmed Faris Amir, views on the Facebook platform @esportsintegrated have already exceeded 1.6 million views recorded in the 2020/21 season, before the end of the competition for the final game on Sunday.

He said the tournament also managed to attract more than 10,000 participants for the season in grabbing cash prizes amounting to RM100,000 offered through four games competed – FIFA 22, DOTA 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile .

“Most of them are not new entries because they are already in the www.esukan.gg system, which is an electronic sports platform operated by ESI and KBS (Ministry of Youth and Sports).

“For the third season (2022/23), we hope to get more sponsorship to increase the prize money and organize the tournament on a larger scale,” he told reporters during the prize giving ceremony at a shopping complex here, Sunday.

He also confirmed the two best teams in the MLBB category, winning tickets to the MLBB Professional League (MPL) as the top eight teams for the qualifying rounds of the Southeast Asian and World Championships.

He explained that following the champions, Homebois and the team in third place RSG had qualified for the qualification before, the slot belonged to the Caracal runners -up and the team in fourth place Mikey.

PUBG Mobile champions and runners -up, D3V Silence and Farang Guerilla, managed to book slots into the PUBG Mobile Pro League.
